BBC: Army has taken over the national broadcaster in Zimbabwe

BBC is reporting that the army has taken over the national broadcaster in Zimbabwe.

In a statement read over TV the army said their action was not a military takeover of government.

“We wish to assure the nation that his excellency the President and his family are safe and sound and their  security is guaranteed.

“We are only targeting criminals around him who are committing crimes.”

Reuters reports that Finance Minister Ignatius Chombo is among those arrested.
