Saheti matric pupils take it all in

Saheti Rugby Sevens and Netball Festival the last for class of 2017

“This is my final year and it’s very emotional because we’ve been doing it for so long with the same girls and we’ve really united together as like one group, as a family more when we’re participating in the netball courts.”

These were the sentiments expressed by Andra Kabacos, a final year Saheti pupil, who has been playing netball since Grade 2. She added, “I enjoy making a lot of friends. We’re united. You even learn to make friends with your opponents because we’re continually playing against different schools, but I think the best part of it is forming a family with your team.”

The captain of the Open team, Alexia Panayi, also completing her last year at the high school, was buoyant about the events of the day. She extended some sage words of advice to her team. “Just play your hardest, and even if we don’t win it’s okay.”

Pano Hadjipaschalis, head boy at Saheti, was equally encouraging, citing “We’re very proud of our teams regardless of the results. We know they’ve trained very hard,” he said. “With respect to the rest of the pupils who aren’t playing, we’ve encouraged them all to be here, we’ve got a great turnout from our students and we know they’re going to be supporting them all the way,” he concluded.
