Suspect still at large after kidnapping in Johannesburg

A soccer coach took 15 children, nine girls and six boys, from their Khutsong South play ground to Simond Street in Johannesburg on 18 February.

According to the South African Police Service Fcebook page, the suspect called 29 children, aged between 13 and 15 years, and told them to hire a taxi to Khutsong for a soccer match.

The children, who trusted the man because he was their soccer coach, did what he said and got into a taxi headed to the venue for their game of soccer. According to the Facebook post, the children arrived at Khutsong South playing grounds and waited for their coach.

At about 5pm, the suspect arrived and chose nine girls and six boys, who he allegedly took to Oberholzer Train Station with a taxi. From there, he took them to Standard House town in Simond Street, Johannesburg.

The 15 children where reported missing, but have since been recovered, according to the Facebook page.
