MPSAmag is Africa’s first online magazine that focuses on beauty, pageantry, modelling, fashion, fitness and healthy lifestyle choices, and the publication is free for download. All the content is written by industry experts who offer advice on beauty, fashion and fitness, as well as how-to tips for aspiring models and pageant entrants

There was over R400 000 in prizes to be won at the star-studded Miss, Mrs and Mr MPSAmag awards, which was also a fundraiser for the charity Deskbags, which supplies school bags that double as desks to impoverished schoolchildren.

Caleb Swanepoel, a 20-year-old amputee model and first-time pageant entrant stole the show. Swanepoel survived a devastating shark attack in Knysna in 2015, leaving him with a prosthetic right leg. The drama student from the University of Cape Town got his first win in the 17+ male category, then scooped the overall senior male category, before walking away with the overall winner’s title – Mr MPSAmag 2016.

As part of his prize, Swanepoel will grace the cover of MPSAmag, helping to launch his modelling career. He will also be the Deskbags brand ambassador, enhancing his record of charitable activities and standing him in good stead for future pageants.

Genive Trimble (17) was the winner of the 16 to 18 female category, beating fellow Roodepoort resident, 19+ winner Tharina Botes (19) in a tightly contested walk. Genive went on to win the Senior Female title.

Madelain Roscher, managing editor of MPSAmag expressed her joy at the days outcome. “We could not have hoped for a better turnout at this, our very first Miss, Mrs and Mr MPSAmag pageant. We are proud and excited to have the opportunity of launching the modelling careers of today’s remarkable winners.”

The panel of judges included Wayne Stafford, current SA Bachelor of the Year; Riana Mooi, Mrs Globe 2015; Werner Wessels, stylist to Miss World and the stars; Shannon Roscher, content editor for MPSAmag and Shajar Khan, Miss South Africa International 2013.
